Software for Cloning non movie DVD
Can anyone give me an idea of how to clone a non movie DVD?
I want to clone so I can keep my original in pristine condition and use the cloned DVD in the computer. I have used CloneCD for CD's and find it excellent, as it gives an exact copy and isn't defeated by stuff on CD that is to defeat such a copy. As I only use the copy as a replacement for the original I feel ridiculously righteous! I have a genuine copy of CloneDVD and AntDVD, bought for this purpose, but they seem to be for movies and to my surprise I seem not to be able to use to clone a non movie DVD - perhaps this is my error and they can be used for my proposed purpose. Thanks John |

You do realise that DVDs are NOT an investment ? They are a mass-market commodity product ! Anyhow, copyright issues notwithstanding, in answer to your question. Create an ISO image of the DVD and burn it back. Any half-decent CD/DVD writing software should be able to cope with that. |

??????????????????????? You are so smart. I had no idea about it being laser! How smug you must feel. Perhaps it is to avoid scratches on surface from my less than perfect environment before the disc is put in the computer. John |
Perhaps it is to avoid scratches on surface from my less than perfect environment before the disc is put in the computer. So my comment was made from factual experience. Now, I've given you the answer, so what's to complain about ? |

(much easier to install a copy of Daemon-Tools and mount the ISO instead) |
Mike-Bracknell,
Well, would have been fun to watch him destroy his prized DVD.... :ok: (rjtjrt, don't worry..... MB was only making a lighthearted remark as to my hurried earlier reply leading to an interesting grammatical construct which might be open to technically impossible misinterpretation ) |
