The mongrel Photobucket postings to Pprune

A couple of years back I used Photobucket to post pictures on Pprune. I finally got the hang of it after frequent hiccups.

Recently I tried to use Photobucket to post a photo of a Handley Page Hastings on the Aviation History and Nostalgia forum. Despite literally an hour of clicking the mouse and swearing at my own apparent incompetence, I was quite unable to make work the various hints and instructions kindly published on Pprune by the experts at the game.

I am certain the format of Photobucket has changed significantly since I last used it successfully two years ago. Trying to highlight and copy the various URL needed to place the photo on Pprune simply failed to work as often the URL was greyed out and I kept on getting a message about the latest Adobe update when I right clicked on the direct link URL.

I had to give up in the end which is such a shame as I have got some wonderful old photos to place on Aviation History and Nostalgia forum. I have studied the various advice given on Pprune re posting of pictures but maybe I am just plain dumb just like my Latin teacher said I was in 1940 at school.

Without stretching the friendship too much I wonder if some kind soul could once more clearly list the required steps using the current version of photobucket? Thank you in advance.

Under the photos there are a number of options on how to copy/share photos.

Click on 'IMG code' link and it will automatically be copied to your clipboard.
Paste the link into your message and it is ready to be posted.

I use TinyPic. Much more user-friendly, fast, simple, and free. TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting

I am certain the format of Photobucket has changed significantly since I last used it successfully two years ago.

Aint that the truth! It was a small program that worked perfectly, though the folders were a tad difficult. Now it has a colourful front end with a mind-bogglingly daft folder system. I just can't see what the software writers are getting at. Nice little thumbnails, but most of them are not there until you load the full shebang. Even then, they seem to be so far removed from conventional file handling that I'm tempted to try the alternative program mentioned.

Click on 'IMG code' link and it will automatically be copied to your clipboard.
This it does do, but you have to look intently at a faint bubble that appears for less than a second. It says, or should say, 'Copied.'

Sometimes I have to hit it three times to get a reaction to the left click.

Thanks everyone. I'll give it another go.:ok:

Selecting the "image code" doesn't seem to work.

Select the "direct link" url and use the Insert Image button on PPrune
to insert it into your post.

That's the yellow button with the mountains, 4th from the right.

I use photobucket but it is a crappy site for uploading. Most larger uploads fail, and all movie uploads fail. Basically trying to upload anything 'big' just falls over.

The solution which I have found is 'dropbox'. You have a public folder, you post the link into the 'mountain' box here, and the photo displays.

re TinyPic - recommended a few posts back. I used that a lot in the past, but with their new 'captcha' for every piccie you have to upload its a right PITA. I often have to have 3 goes because it's just so hard to make out.

Also, can anyone help with this? I clicked the 'Join Now' option top right corner of the TinyPic home page, and was directed to a Join Photobucket Today page. Are they one and the same?

For those using SRWare Iron then this site will already be known about, but for those who don't know it it's simple and straight forward, see above test. (try clicking on picture) and that's not the only display option. bild.me - Imagehosting
