Seeing the full path on document selection.
I'm not sure if it's a Word Perfect thing, or global, since I havn't loaded other soft yet. But I used to go: File - then down to a list of last opened .wpd files.
It always used to show me the full path, which would pop out sideways from the selected file. Now it doesn't, and I can find nothing in my old WP 8 to switch it back on. It's surprisingly important. Soooooooo easy to start editing a backup file - I usually have 4 on the go, and sometimes look in them to check all's going well. This leaves a big trapdoor sprung for me to fall into. |
The last time I used WordPerfect was 1992, so i'm afraid I can't help you there!

I used to sell WP, and this is my dealer copy, c1990. It has always shown the full path, but I was wondering if it's a W7 thing. I guess installing Word 2010 again would be a test...erm, no it wouldn't. File selection is a bit sophisticated in that. Can't remember what Open Office is like.
The bad thing about not seeing the path right away is that it has to be selected to see it up top. That means a backup or the like, will be brought to the fore on the list. Pushing 60 X 30page chapters about - all with 4 backups, can be tricky. One mistake and it's a chapter printout and word by word check. Douglas Adams had rows of screens with staff/students doing the editing. I have to put a load of shelves up to get the Rivetess to read one chapter. |
LR - global I think as Word does it in XP. Not all progs do, however.

Just turned on the TV computer as it has WP on it, and it's gone TU again. Thought it was the Java load conflict, but now new problem to fix :ugh:
Odd, that one has gone into a Windows 7 hello screen, with the diags running, yet says it can't communicate with something to load the W7. Are the diags calling substantial software from on a different part of the (only) H-disc? If nothing obvious and fixable, I'll start a proper thread on this issue. That's one sick puppy. Did a system restore, and it loaded. WP showing pop out path okay. Then computer crashed with chaotic screen. Disc IO error it tells me. I'll start a thread on it, cos it doesn't have the look and feel of a disc failure. |
