Google Street View

I used to be able to take a still from Google Street view of a particular scene,I used to compare it with a view from taken from a website of historical photos of my area,sort of before and after from the same viewpoint.
Haven't done this for a while and the life of me I cannot remember how I used to do it,I used to click on the menu and then click on summat else and finish up with a still picture of the scene I wanted on me desktop ,I have a new hard disk in the machine but it has the same version of xp pro on it.
Can anybody help?
:confused::(

In Google Earth V6 in the street view mode it's EDIT>copy image, then paste it into a paint program.

Thank you Mr G,will try that tomorrow,hmmm, I don't remember it being that complicated though,certainly didn't involve pasting into paint,wish I could remember how I used to do it,it was so simple.:(

There is an option under the File menu which saves the current scene to a graphics file (PNG/JPEG/TIFF or similar). Don't have GE in this machine, but I expect it will be named something sensible, else just try every option.

Does your "Print Screen" key put on the clipboard?

This is not good.

After being helped to find the little man, I thought all would be well. But it aint.

The ability to zoom on the scroll wheel, while in the SV, seems to have gone, and any attempt to use it ends up showing loads of images, distorted to the point of surrealism.

OP's point. File - save - etc., just doesn't . . . not to Desktop, anyway. Says it will, then just does nothing.

On aggregate, I'm mindful of going back to an earlier version. Clunky as it was, I could get it to do what I wanted.

I agree V6 is definitely quirky LR

It is certainly not as fast or as stable as the earlier version that had the virtual ribbon with the arrows one clicked on to advance,the little camera icons work about three times then kick me back out to the transparent spheres on the map view.:uhoh:

Street View within Google Earth does seem much slower.. I would try viewing the area you want via Street View in Google Maps instead. :cool:

I found it crashed with the PC "out of memory" after a few minutes. I suspect there's a memory leak in GE v6 somewhere - I've read many complaints along those lines.

I understand there's a "Beta tester program" starting soon, to try to solve that. Meanwhile, stick with version 5 (still downloadable from some of the cache sites).
