Help! All my desktop icons have disappeared!
A colleague at work was setting up my Win Xp Laptop to deliver a Ppt presentation via a projector with the 'instructor view' on the laptop. In doing so, all my normal desktop icons have disappeared. I guess I can replace them individually, but is there anything in 'Display Settings or Ppt settings that would cause this.
Dell Inspiron running Win Xp Home and Office 2003 for Ppt. Having tried to replace the icons using 'Send To' and 'Desktop (create Shortcut), nothing happens! Any ideas please? mcdhu |
the desktop output has changed to a projector, you need to set the graphics properties back to the laptop. Failing that try a restore point from when it was ok.

On an HP laptop it is often 'Function' key + F4 - have a play around.

Aha! Found it!
Right click on the desktop, tick 'Show Shortcuts' - had to be simple! Many thanks gents. mcdhu |
McDhu, thanks for that - in over 8 years of using XP, I've never noticed that. :ok:
Now to sabotage someone's desktop and leave them tearing their hair out... :E SD |
It's under 'right click>view' on W7
