ie8 crashing (Windows XP SP3)
 

1) I know - but I have to us it to check web pages I have constructed

Now, having got that over with, it has been crashing regularly at page open with a fault in TBZON1.dll. I have solved the problem by renaming this file (in the ZA folder) but anyone know what it is supposed to do in the first place?

Edit to add history (and the dawn of realisation:)): After the first episode of crashing, I reinstalled ie8 with no change. I have now been able to enter the programme and disable the ZA 'toolbar' which I assume is what the file is for (cannot imagine why I 'activated' it in the first place!)

Now with the toolbar dead, I have restored the filename to original and all is well.

I'll leave this here 'for info' in case.

I don't have that file in my zone alarm installation, nor, after a search, anywhere on my hard drive.

It appears to be a toolbar for ZA according to google results

I guess I must have thought it a 'jolly good idea' at some upgrade stage of ZA - it seems to run in FF ok, but was crashing ie8

My files sit in a folder called 'ZoneAlarm' next to the usual 'ZoneLabs' folder and the install log shows it went in on 2 July so I guess it must have been an M$ update wot done it since ie had run ok until around 2 weeks ago..

Probably one of their security enhancements to a dislike to the toolbar.

Actually when there was no Windows firewall I used to run it. This was before it got bloated, and because there was a need for a firewall. I even got to the POC phase for 100,000 person rollout before working out that the number of fault calls from my target group was unacceptably high.

..and so to bed......damn toolbar kept coming back and I could not uninstall it using the drop-down menu - because IE was crashing - so had to nuke it via add/remove.
