Ppl training iPhone apps

I wanted peoples opinions on the iPhone apps available from thegreatcircle.co.uk

At £2.39 per subject I think it's not a bad price, and they seem to have good reviews.

Without going into it, suffice it to say I don't get a lot of time to study, or attend groundschool classes and I find it very hard to learn from just reading the books and making notes. With the kind of work I do, I do get a few hours here and there, which I usually spend With my head in the books lol and find these apps may be helpful to use.

Has anyone used them/know of them/had experience of them?

What is your opinion on the matter?

All answers appreciated :)

757hopeful,

Anyone????
Why the urgency ? The idea behind PPRuNe as hinted in its acronym is that most peope here have day jobs. :ugh::ugh:

Most useful apps on your iPhone for PPL training ? Telephone and calendar.

Seriously. For PPL training you shouldn't be making things more complicated than they need to be. The old reliable items of a copy of Thom, CAP413, a whizz wheel, a map and a good instructor should be all you need ! Keep the gadgets until post-PPL.

If you're a "757hopeful" then you'd better get used to having your head in the books. With all due respect, if you can't cope with PPL learning then you're going to find the route to the right hand seat awfully challening !

Granted, But PPRuNe is quite busy during the middle of the afternoon, I thought it would attract more attention that way. No rush

.

Every Thom book - Check
CAP413 - Check
Whizz wheel - Check
Map - Check

And for those of us who dont have an instructor attached during the day, and find it very difficult to learn just purely out of a book, as opposed to it being a little bit more interactive?

I fully understand the VERY long haul that awaits me, I am prepared for hard graft and for sacrifices. Thus the reason I'm working my bloody a**e off to get money together to start paying for it. There was nothing in my post that said I couldn't cope, I just asked were the apps any good as they are a little bit more interactive and I feel during the periods at work when I can study, I may get a little bit further than by monotonously reading from a book.

I downloaded one out of curiosity. I downloaded the VFR Communications app (Cheapest one!) , it's ok, for some reason the same questions keep coming up time after time. And some questions give the same possible answer twice.

Overall I think it could be a useful tool but they need to sort out these little problems.

Like yourself I am not overly suited to sitting with a book learning, but . . . I had to :( it's the only way I am afraid!

Thank you. I would rather hear these things now than waste my money lol

I know the book will always 'reign king' in comparison. But something like this would help it sink in a bit better

I know what you mean. I think these apps as an aid would be useful along with the reading etc. It's the convenience of it that is appealing I guess, you can get your phone out and do a few practice questions whilst your waiting for a train or something!

The PPL exams really aren't too bad. The books and a PPL confuser should be enough.

Good luck!

Exactly! I work on the roads, so some of the time i get 3 or 4 hours whilst waiting for works to be completed. So i use the time to study, this would be brilliant for revision

Aaah, the confuser! If only one could find one! (without paying £145+ Postage!) Still, the search continues :)

Good luck!
Thank you

I used this -

Question & Answer Simplifier for the PPL Course £19.99

£19.99

Does the same thing I think??? Well I passed the exams anyway!

I was told that it was good but not great. The original (of course) being the one to get. But i will look further into it, thanks :ok:

Any other opinions?
