Transferring recorded material to an iPod

Hello!

I have been given a number of "finished" DVD disks on which a friend has transcribed old 78 rpm records, etc.

While I can play the DVD disks by using Windows Media Player, I cannot transfer them to my iPod.

Could someone help me with tips on how to effect the transfer, please? FWIW, I am using Windows Vista software.

Thanks in advance,

CCC

I presume the music files on the DVD are in either .wma or .mp3 format - useable on just about any portable digital music player - except an iPod. They need converting to .aac format to use on an iPod - I would have thought that iTunes does this for you?

Hello reynoldsno1,

Yes the tunes are indeed in .mp3 format, but the iPod (which has the latest software, incidentally) does not recognise them. Hence the problem!

Download some software to do the conversion: Mp3 to aac Free Download

You can put them into iTunes as MP3 and convert them using iTunes itself before syncing with your iPod...iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format

Thank you, green granite and call100, for your kind suggestions.

I apologise for not acknowledging your messages earlier, but delayed flight ==> delayed homecoming ==> delayed message reading.

I will report back on how I got on.

All iPods can play mp3; there's no need to convert. You should be able to just drag and drop the files from your DVD and drop them on your iPod in iTunes.

Yes that is the case. Just put them into iTunes and sync the them. Sorry, was just thinking "covert" when I posted. Must pay more attention. :O
