Bbc Iplayer Abroad

Hi

Is it possible to access BBC Iplayer , sky player etc whilst you are outside the UK.

When I try to access these sites it says they are only available whist in the UK - I just wondered is there away around this.

Thanks

There is. But it's not legal (and/or against specific content license terms). Therefore NO.

Sorry.

Google is your friend if you really insist.

There are allegedly ways around it abroad, but always seemed a bit of a palaver.

Perhaps you should wait for
THIS (?)

Hmmm, the reason is so that it's only available to people who have paid the licence fee, If you are a UK based person who has paid said fee, then the use of a proxy, it could be argued, might be perfectly legitimate when abroad.

gg,

BBC iPlayer - Terms of Use

and similar for Sky et. al., which your "license fee" argument certainly does not cover.

Furthermore, I believe the license fee is classified as a UK tax, therefore those accessing the service from abroad will be subject to terms of use because (as I understand it) the BBC has no powers to claim license fees from those abroad. But don't quote me on this.
