Readyboost
Idly looking for something else I found again references to Readyboost. Having a spare 2 Gig SD card and an unused slot, I plugged it in, got it recognised, configured, and hope to forget it. Hope it helps the next time I want to do some video editing or other disk-intensive stuff. But then I thought...
Suppose one of the gurus knows horrible things about Readyboost that I didn't find in goog/bing, what then? So I thought I'd ask. C: 250 gig less than half used, D: 500 gig, on which most of the docs are stored 2 gig memory, typically 35-40% in use |
Seems to me that ReadyBoost is for tightwads who want to use SuperFetch but don't want to buy extra RAM. Personally I'd spend on more RAM and a faster hard drive.
See first para here : Conclusion : Windows Vista's SuperFetch and ReadyBoost Analyzed The other half of the equation is one day you or your other half will forget why the SD card is there and pull it out when you want to stick in the SD card from your digicam. Can't do that with RAM. :ok: |
