graphics card down?
 

Hi all, my desktop refuses to boot finally ending with a screen full of table giving IRQ assignments. Running XP.

Do you think this is due to graphics going down, has been showing weakness for a while, or can anyone suggest an alternative reason?

I want to sort this ASAP.

Graphics can't be completely dead as you are getting readable stuff on the screen. Have you tried safe mode?

wont let me get far enough to choose safe mode. But thanks. I think it will display basic stuff ie VGA but sess conflict on th bus if it has to go further. I'll buy another GC tomorrow and see if it cures it, I just didn't want to waste cash on chasin spooks.

This screen that it stops on......it wouldn't be blue, by any chance would it?

When was the last time you opened your computer ?

Suggest might be worth getting hold of a can of compressed air (preferably the "safer" invertible variety) and blowing the cobwebs off your poor graphics card that's probably overheating. :cool:

Might not be the problem of course. But certainly worthwile doing the maintenance in any event.
