What operating system I am on?
 

Where in the control panel can I find what operating system I am on?

I think its Vista but not sure and I need the info for my working from home application

Why not contact your wife?

Otherwise, Google is your best friend. 'what operating system do I have' or similar will bring a pile of hits telling you how to find it out.

Can you open the Explorer . . . I mean the file Explorer, not the Internet Explorer?

If so, up the top you should see 'Help'. In there, 'About Windows'. In there lies the answer.

If your OS is pre-Vista, click Start, then Run and type: winver in the box and press enter.

If your OS is Vista or Win 7 click start (well, the blob that used to be start) and then in the search box type winver and then press enter.
