I had a quick search, but couldn't find anything mentioned about Guy Kewney. "Integrity in socks and sandals." He popped off on the 8th I believe.

In the days I'd read everything I could lay hands on about computers, I made sure I read everything he wrote. He had quite a lot to say about the way IBM were running 'Patch-wires' around their mother boards for instance, and wouldn't pull any punches because of a name.

The end of an era.

Very sorry to hear that, he was one of the best. I enjoyed reading his columns for several decades.

Guy Kewney was a must read for me too.

Never afraid to tell it the way he saw it.

I'm 99% sure it was. The guy (sorry, other person:}) that stepped into his place should have been given a substantially better job than he was applying for.

I've been seeing his name in the magazines for at least 25 years, if I recall correctly. The Register has two different pieces about him:
Guy Kewney, pioneer, guru, friend - RIP ? The Register
Guy Kewney: Integrity in socks and sandals ? The Register

Bnt, like you I remember reading his articles over the last 25 years or so. Does anyone remember a magazine marketed at computer dealerships which I think Mr Kewney wrote for.

From memory I think he once said "Unix will be the next big operating system" -I'm sure this was partly in jest - He was very well informed - But you know I think in a funny roundabout sort of way he was right. - 30 Years ahead of his time.

WRT computer dealerships mag., I think he may have been a contributor to Computer Weekly.

Unfortunately don't have any copies laying around now.
