2 channel digital set top boxes - recommendations?

I appreciate that this is not quite a computer issue.

I'm looking at going digital and wondered if there's anyone out there who could recommend a best solution, preferably without the need to take out a second mortgage, for either a STB or a PVR to attach to my analogue TV that would give me the option of recording one digital channel while watching another.

I have a Philips DVR7300 HDD that's not all that old and has 250 gig capacity on its HD, so I was wondering if I'd be able to use that for recording from a twin channel STB. (Spent the morning trolling through sites on the net and didn't find the answer to that question. Can I record a digital signal onto my old HDD?)

Appreciate any advice and thanks in advance.

Humax PVRs come with a good reputation.

Digital onto HDD is not a problem. I set my JVC DVD recorder to 'L-1' to record digital stuff on my tele. Not sure how you would set up a twin tuner though. One Scart to tele, one to DVD rec?

I've had a Humax hdtv freesat box (no recording) for a couple of years now and it's very good, no issues at all.

HUMAX PVR 9300T very good.

I got one from the Humax direct website as a managers special, £149.00 at the moment.
Had mine a couple of years and recent software updates have made it a reliable and quiet machine.

Most TVs these days have two or three scart sockets, why dont you just buy another freeview box scart from that to the scart on the TV, scart from your existing kit to the other input scart on the TV,thn you have two sets of digital tuners, record on one whilst watch another channel from the new freeview box.
:)
