Playing HD videos
Hello,
I bought a Toshiba Full HD Camera with 40Gb of Hard Drive. I recorded many hours of video and transferred them to my desktop. The problem is that when I try to play them, they appear very sluggish and it does not play smooth at all. I downloaded all the programs and codecs I could find but I still get the same result. My camera is a TOSHIBA GIGASHOT A40FE. Any help appreciated. Thanks :ok: |
And your desktop is...?
In general, you don't need "lots of codecs", you simply need the right one. If your computer is old, a little bit of house cleaning could help. |
What he said, plus, are you a little short of free space on your hard drive?

thanks guys. I have 100GB free of hard drive. My computer specs are:
P4 2.8 GHz 2Gb RAM dual channel Nvidia FX5900 ultra 256mb 120GB hard drive 7200rpm I know the specs are a little bit old, but I thought it would be ok for HD videos? Thanks! |
Yes, they should be fine. I play HD content just fine on a 1.6GHz notebook. Have you checked if your videos play using VLC Media Player? It uses its own codecs, and is a good player to test against.

thanks bushfiva :ok: Yes I tried with VLC, it works better but still not acceptable...

If you don't already have it download process explorer from Process Explorer
have it running while running a video and you can monitor what else is running, the processor load, ram usage etc. It should give you an idea what is going on. |
