Windows Vista 64-bit and MP3's

I have recently upgraded my machine to Vista 64-bit from XP.

I have a few mp3's which used to play perfectly well under XP and play fine in Vista 32-bit on the laptop, but some (and only some) don't play on the desktop in Vista 64-bit.

This appears to be a known problem from my trawling the net, but I haven't (yet) found an answer to the problem. Does anyone know?
