Belkin Vision N1
Can anybody tell me if a Belkin Vision N1 wireless/modem router #F5D8632, purchased in the USA would work here in the UK on a BT supplied broadband system?
I have the opportunity to buy one from the USA at a somewhat cheaper price than it is sold here in the UK and I was wondering if it would be compatible with the Uk telephone system:confused: CC |
On the Wifi side - yes, provided that you can specify "UK" in the configuration setup - this sets the number of discrete wifi channels (differs significantly around the world).
I have yet to see one that is not user configurable. I don't know about the ADSL part - I'm sure that others more knowledgeable will confirm. The AC adaptor would need to be replaced, I think - both because of voltage and plug. Your returns / warranty replacement would be a pain, too. SD |
BT sell adapter plugs of using US phones in the UK, whether or not modems will work I'm not sure if the protocols are identical or not, could be an absolute nightmare to sort, and BT get very uptight about non-approved equipment being connected to their copper.

Thanks for your replies. Seems like it could be complicated, so I will buy one here. At least there will be no warranty problems. Surprisingly, BT are one of the cheapest retailers of this unit:)
