Windows/IE/secure site login
 

I need some help please.

Company website, https, IE only. Home access via desktop, XP Pro, SP3, 'away' is laptop, XP Home, SP3. I have the 'Connect to blah blah blah' panel with username and p/word saved ('remember my password' ticked), so 1 click in.

Now on an aspx page, with links. I click on the web access email link. On the desktop, same results, click and I am in. On the laptop, I get 'Connecting to ....', no username or p/word saved and no 'remember my password' option either. I type both in and access.

Is it XPHome causing the problem or do I need a particular setting changed on the laptop to enable 1 click access at stage 2?

A dark Icelandic evening here so lots of Googling which tells me that XPH will not allow this. Strange as I get it at the first stage log in. There is talk of registry hacks etc. Anyone know?

I have XP Pro on lappie and desktop, and both can do that stuff. Could be an XPH strip-out.

In IE click TOOLS - INTERNET OPTIONS - use tab CONTENT - section AUTO COMPLETE click SETTINGS - tick USERNAMES....and the indented one below

now it will offer the login again. Watch out for the login window, there is a tick box to stop asking for login data storage.

Yes Keef, I fear so. Nightrider - set that way a while back. It has no effect. The puzzle is why I get the option on the first login and not the second.

There is a missing file in sys32 in XPH - 'sec' something which is what I need, plus obviously a reg key job. Ah well -I guess I'll either live with it or go for an XP Pro overwrite - which I'd prefer.
