Laptop wont power up on battery
 

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop. Although the battery charge is showing 100% the machine will not power up on battery and if I run on AC and pull the cord the machine stops running. I have tried taking the battery out and putting it back in again.

Borrow another battery, try it again.

Then you know if it's the battery or the computer.

Having a similar problem with my spare Toshiba M40 laptop. It's intermittent and after removing the battery pack and connecting AC power, it will boot up just fine. I therefore know the battery is on it's last legs!

Try some paper or a toothpick to buff the contacts on both the battery and the computer. It's occasionally worked for me.
