The other place worth trying if you're in a mood to file complaints, is Otelo, BT are a member, Otelo look at both sides of the complaint and they make a binding decision that BT have to obide by.

Do you have iPlayer of C4-on-demand installed?

If so you bandwidth is being used by other users of the same software to download programmes etc.

Netmeter is an interesting install to see your bandwidth usage.

Nothing installed. Never download music or movies. No iplayer. Just good old basic pprune browsing etc.
Off to find netmeter now.
