Computer Crashes

Can anyone explain to me, in normal, everyday bog standard english, exactly WHAT a computer crash is, HOW you can avoid it and WHY it has to happen just as you are about to save the 20-page masterpiece of writing?

They crash because ----- they can ! No really, its very difficult to answer. Why? Well there are so many reasons. You could start with : -

Hardware problems
Software problems
The both combind i.e some software doesn't like some Hardware
Memory 'Page' faults
........
the list goes on and on.

One tip; if you are writing long 'documents' save them very, very, frequently. That way if it does go ar$e up, then you won't of lost too much.....

Damn' things.....
