Video Players

Not sure if this has been covered.
I need a PC app to play video files that can't be played by Win Media Player of Realplayer.
I also have Quicktime, I find both Quicktime and Realplayer pretty crappy when it comes to stability.
Is there anything that plays pretty much everything?
Do I need a divx decoder to solve the above problem?

What format are the movie files?

Are they .mov, .par, .mpg ????

Mostly AVI files.

You can use Media Player to play AVI files...

Not all of them I'm afraid!
Does this have anything to do with dixv decoding?

Have no idea. You might want to scan through www.divx.com though. If I had time at the moment I would offer to do this but I'm a tad busy....

Win Media Player version 7 plays just about anything... BUT you may also need the DIVX codec for some files. Get the V7 upgrade and if you're stuck, send me a private msg and I'll zip up the DIVX patch for you.
