Netcams and netmeeting

Does anyone know if there is a way of improving performance with a standard Webcam(15 fps at 640 x 480)?
The system Im using is a 700hz win 98se 56k modem and 196Mb of RAM.
I know that ASDL /ISDN would help but Im looking for a cheap and cheerful solution, or am I going to have to spend some cash ?

With most of these cameras the limitation is the camera itself.

If you start up Netmeeting without connecting to the internet/other computer and wave your hand in front of it you'll see what I mean.

You can try plugging a video camera into a dedicated card but this is usually too expensive and not what you asked for.
Sometimes you get what you pay for.

Cheers

I was afraid you would say that, looks like time to spend some cash.
Thanks for the advice.

You can usually find tech specs which include a max frmae rate on the manufacturers sites.

With Some cameras you can increase frame rate by making the image smaller.
