In theory, a VPN connection to your home system would "hide" your foreign status.

I use VPN to read the e-mail and access files on the home machine while I'm away, and it works very well.

The snag is that it's all limited to the "uplink" speeds of the two ADSL setups, which are around 380k.

I have some retired friends who have moved from the U.K. to Greece. They have had similar problems. Fortunately their son is a computer expert who has configured their computer and his in the U.K. to act as a proxy server. Thus U.K. TV can be received. However it was then discovered that the Greek ISP was regularly changing their Greek ISP address. U.K. server now programmed to check the ISP address frequently and make necessary adjustments automatically. Hence normal service has now been resumed!
