How do you block e-mails

How do you block/stop e-mails from a known person being downloaded from the server. At present I have Outlook Express and have set it up but it only transfers them to the deleted items box, but the point is I want to stop them arriving altogether as they take so long

Here at PPRuNe HQ, we use <a href="http://www.mail2web.com" target="_blank">www.mail2web.com</a>

This allows you to see the mail sitting on the server, and delete it before you activate outlook express.

I use SpamEater Pro from <a href="http://www.spameater.net" target="_blank">www.spameater.net</a> It does exactly what you want to do.

If its a one off sender, in OE, click on Tools; Message Rules; Mail; Mail Rules: New; and enter the address you want blocked, then select, "Do not download from server".

Depending on your OE version, this facility may be under Tools, Inbox Assistant (note: you have to be in a mail folder when selecting otherwise you get the newsgroup tools menu, which is different). You can delete from server based on sender, topic or size.
