That looks pretty standard, the same as I'm doing. You may already have the required cables somewhere, or you can get them from Maplin, Dixons, Currys, etc. :
video: 15-pin D-type VGA cable, male-male (not an extension) from the VGA socket on the notebook to the "PC in" VGA socket (B) on the TV. The plug will be the reverse of the one at the very left of the first pic, with a shell and pins. audio: 3.5mm stereo male-male, from notebook headphone or line-level socket to the "PC In" audio socket below the VGA socket. lower the master volume on the notebook to about 1/2 if using a headphone socket, but if you have a line-level socket, turn it up. (If in doubt, assume it's a headphone socket) First time, attach the video when the notebook is turned off, so when you turn it on, it should detect the screen type and resolutions. You may need to hit a key combination such as Fn-F4 to make the notebook use the TV, and/or customise the settings in Display settings. PS: An alternative is to get an S-video cable, and use those sockets: labeled H on that diagram (on the side of the TV). On the first notebook, S-video is next to the VGA socket. On the second, I can't be sure from that picture: it's one of the sockets at the ends, one of those is for external keyboard & mouse. However, I don't recommend using S-video: you might have to fiddle to get the notebook to use it, and picture quality won't be as good as VGA. |
Full service, technical, answer already given above. Quick reference card says
"pictures through the socket with three rows of 5 holes" (extreme left on top picture, blue socket on wifey's). Sound from headphone or extension speakers on laptop(s). Both plug into area "B" on TV. |
Thanks chaps, can now shoot germans down in full glorious technicolour:)
