Silverlight

Just been to Microsoft update sight and saw an update mentioneed Silverlight, any comments or experiance?

Personal experience is that sometimes it works & sometimes it doesn't. There still appear to be some dependencies in the underlying Microsoft OS. My home PC runs it fine, but my PC at work doesn't - when we tested we got ~50% of PCs working with it.

It isn't anything special, really Microsoft's answer to Quicktime & Flash, but some sites are already delivering Silverlight content - eg MLB in the US.

Seems as though everytime I open IE (which is rare as I prefer Firefox), it asks me to download it.

What is Silverlight and do I need it?
