Forgetting usernames/passwords

In the last couple of days, my computer has started forgetting website usernames & passwords. Every time I visit a site like PPRuNe I have to log in even though I have ticked the 'remember me' box. This happens to all sites that I frequent. If the computer is disconnected from the internet, it seems to dump all the usernames & passwords. B***dy annoying.

Does anybody have any ideas as to the cause? Using Win XP-SP2 & IE7.

Thanks in advance.

When you "tick the box" to remember usernames and passwords, they are stored as Cookies on your PC.

Have you recently:
  • Changed security settings in your browser to block cookies?
  • Manually deleted cookies?
  • Installed any anti-spyware or similar software that could now be deleting cookies for you?

No not done any of those. The beast just seems to have thrown a 'wobbly' for no apparent reason!

CC - not a solution, but a workaround - I use Roboform to remember all my passwords. It's very good and simple - and free, though I've paid for the unlimited passwords.

CC,

Try deleting your cookies and clearing the web cache.

Roboform is superb - not free but well worth it.

And for the Mac 1Password - http://1passwd.com/ - is the dogs nadgers.

Both have Palm versions and there's a Roboform Symbian hack.

Thanks, tried it and reset all my passwords and now the beast seems to be behaving itself again. Must remember that if it throws a wobbly again:ok:
