Minor OE irritation

Lately, I've found that outlook express doesn't open links within email messages. Instead I have to copy & paste into a browser.

This is a fairly recent change & it did used to permit it. I've played about with a few settings & can't seem to change it. Any ideas?

Nuh uh. No good:confused::confused:

Some other clues or is that it?

Parapunter 25th September 2007 15:50

Still the same as before I tried all of those fixes:)

Well what has been changed in your system between the time it worked and the time it stopped?

That's usually a good place to look!

OS?
OE Version?
Default browser?
Browser Version?
Firewall?
Anti-Virus?
Do you see a 'hand' when you 'hover?
Are there any messages?
Can you open links in your browser?

Ok, praps I've been a little too reticent:)
Xp Home SP2, no particular changes that I can think of, usual ms updates as they turn up (I relaise that could be a can of worms) but of interest with the attached fix, all the dll's were found with the exception of Oleaut32.
Possible cause?? I also use firefox but switched IE to default for the purposes of a fix & no good.
Quick thought, since OE is part of the OS, could I remove it as a component & then reinstate it as a bit of brute force, via the add/remove components in add/remove programs? I ask because I'm posting from home on vista & it ain't the same!
AVG free - never a prob before.
Windows firewall & belkin router - same
Yes, the cursor changes, just nothing on clicking.
Yep, copy & paste for links works just fine. In fact, no other problems of any nature within the system. Just this.

Yes, you could try to re-install, or you could try to 'repair' via the add/remove. Worth running through this first, though.

I'm not too sure what you did at stage 1 but check this too:
How do I get HTTP hyperlinks in OE to open IE, when I click them?
Go to View | Folder Options | File Types in Windows Explorer and check the values for URL:Hypertext Transfer Protocol (click edit, open, edit). The values should read:
application:
"C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome
(Check the path to iexplore.exe to make sure that is correct)
DDE should be checked and in the boxes below it you should have:
#1:
"%1",,-1,0,,,,
#2
IExplore
#3 (blank)
#4
WWW_OpenURL
NOTE: The above applies to Win9x. For WinMe, Win2000, and WinXP, use Tools | Folder Options or Control Panel | Folder Options to access the file types. Then edit the OPEN action for the file type. The actual values specified above are the same for each Operating System.
If you find that the above process is set correctly, and you still have problems, then go to Start | Run and type
regsvr32 urlmon.dll
and see if that fixes the problem.

Still no good. I may plough through that registry hack if I can find a spare weekend:}:{

Help required Re French acute , grave, circumflex accents etc
I'm using Outlook Express 6
What's the easiest, easiest way of adding accents to an 'e' for example in OE ?
At the moment I'm using Numbers Lock/Alt/0233 etc - is there an easier way as there is in, for instance, Word ?
Thanks in advance

As far as I know (and do) you select the character in your word processor and paste into the text box.
