Help- No communication wth printer

I went on holiday, and came back to a bad scene- popped in my removable drive- does'nt read (I use it for my back-up files).

But, more importantly- went to print- no communication between PC and printer. All appears well- printer shows up on the Control Panel Printers and Faxes, lights on on printer- but no communication. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Driver, to no avail.

Anyone any thoughts?

I had this a while back with an Epson printer, and the only solution was to 'uninstall' the printer and 're-install'.
