Keyboard problem
Last week put in a new HDD and loaded Win XP Pro; all is fine except that the keyboard has picked up a glitch, the # symbol now appears when the UK Pound key is pressed and the @ symbol appears when the quote mark key is pressed (Upper case fig 2 key). There are a few other transpositions but it would be overly confusing to try and explain them. Running UK English as language setting BTW.
Any ideas? |
you have the KB on the USA setting. change it to UK.

Thanks Ormus, I suspected a foreign keyboard set up, though I can't figure how to change it, the Kboard properties says its English UK and the regional props are also English UK. Do I need to reinstall XP to get the options page again? (Which I must have blithely paged through I suppose). Not too bothered if I have to but there must be a quicker option?

Have you gone in via Settings>Control Panel>Keyboard?
Have you also checked to see what 'Regional Settings' says? |
I had a similar problem a year or so ago, as related here.
It only took a minute or so to fix though and its on a laptop running XP Home. |
