Windows Messenger
I seem to remember that there are two types of MS Windows Messenger- one good, and the other associated with spyware. Am I right?

There's the Messenger service, which is bad.
There's MSN Messenger - which is for IM / chat. Not as bad, but I prefer Trillian ! |
Yep - there has been a lot of confusion between the two in the past.
MSN messenger (usually just abbreviated to 'MSN') is very widely used - myself and a good number of other prooners use it to keep in touch with each other. Official site here. |
Funny, but since the big crash of 2005, I have reinstalled and yah de dah de dah,, but although I sign out of MSN Messenger 7.5 in order to concentrate on the bizz in hand, I still see people signing in, as though I were connected to same.

Nice little touch on MSN 8.0 which I'm currently beta testing, is that you can send messages whilst appearing offline - great if you just want to chat to one person without all the other, welll meaning friends jumping in and saying 'Hi'!
