WMP not playing AVI files (not codec problems)
 

Appolgies if this has appeared before.

My windows media player is not flatly refusing to play avi files. It just says there is an error and wants to send reports to microsoft. I previously had codec problems but have downloaded plenty of them now and that doesn't seem to be the problem.

I have downloaded other players and the same thing happens.

It is not just happening on one file but on a number of them. I'm tired of looking for more players only to find they don't work either.

Any ideas?

I had a similar problem at my workplace. In the end I just gave up with WMP and used Quicktime, which worked a treat. Only problem with that now is that you have to download it bundled with iTunes!

Had this on my laptop, Winamp worked OK,but ended up reistalling XP.
