I wonder if Sony are a little concerned about suits like the one mentioned from California from people who have had trojans etc that have infected people's PCs and have caused problems. Could be an interesting one to watch.

With the sophistication of this "anti piracy" software and other devices which CD publishers are using to prevent illegal copying, I wonder what is to stop anyone putting the "protected" CD's into an ordinary CD player and digitising the analogue output. There would be little loss in quality and all the tracks would then be totally unprotected. A (say) 15kHz low pass filter would remove any ultrasonic nasties which had been applied as well, so isn't this protection a bit OTT?

Or play it in a Mac...... :O

I wonder if Sony have actually realised now that their actions will probably result in fewer sales of their dodgy CD's and that their paying customers are now more likely to download a free MP3 file instead via the likes of Lime Wire / Win MX / Kazaa / Napster or any other file sharing program currently available - exactly the kind of thing they would probably want to avoid - Hah :E
