Need help with Windows - Now!
Whilst starting up my laptop, my battery was out of juice and after a split second of life, the computer died. Now the poroblem is, it was in the process of starting up and now everything has gone to pot..
Half my programs have error messages when I try and start them and the worst is I cannot access the net now. I get this message, "Unable to bind to port 2001. Check TCP/IP config .0" I've run ipconfig and there is no IP address etc being shown. Will I have to re-install Windoze? Is there a fix??? Should I just buy a Powerbook?! |
if Xp then try a repair of the OS via the recovery console or whatever it's called... Boot up via the XP CD and select repair
Several things could be wrong.. Hard disk corrupted Memory corrupted Registry corrupted.... any more details on the system? |
Well I'm very impressed with myself, I fixed it all on my own!!
Yes it's XP Pro and it was apparentely a Winsocks error. Found this out after spending an hour or two on Google and eventually found the problem. Had to delete the Socks in the Registry, re-start and re-install the TCP/IP protocols and hey presto it worked! |
Well done that person ! Certainly had me scratching my head - never come across port 2001 before.
I'd assumed you were running Linus or MacOS or something. |
