Jepp Flitestar and USB

I have recently purchased ver 9 of the Jepp Flitestar program and tried to connect up my Garmin gps to download some routes to it.

It seems like the program only uses serial ports for the connection. The Gps is a GPSMap296 which only has a USB connection cable.
Does anyone know if it's possible?? I belive there is also a serial cable available, much the same as that for the Garmin 3.

It is what we use in the Cirrus to upload the updates.

Take Care,
