Hijackthis log review
Hi Peeps,
I would appreciate if someone could have a quick scan of this hijackthis log (first time I'm running it). The only items I'm suspicious about are those bold - can't find definite answers about them in Google. I have removed the obvious ones, ran adware, stinger and Norton AV (several instances of their respective enemies removed). Logfile of HijackThis v1.98.2 Scan saved at 18:39:46, on 01/11/2004 Platform: Windows XP SP1 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP1 (6.00.2800.1106) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\WINDOWS\System32\ctfmon.exe C:\Documents and Settings\customer\My Documents\antivirus programs\hijack this\HijackThis.exe R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://login.passport.net/uilogin.srf?id=2 O2 - BHO: AcroIEHlprObj Class - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Reader\ActiveX\AcroIEHelper.dll O2 - BHO: NAV Helper - {BDF3E430-B101-42AD-A544-FADC6B084872} - C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\NavShExt.dll O3 - Toolbar: Norton AntiVirus - {42CDD1BF-3FFB-4238-8AD1-7859DF00B1D6} - C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\NavShExt.dll O3 - Toolbar: &Radio - {8E718888-423F-11D2-876E-00A0C9082467} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\msdxm.ocx O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IgfxTray] C:\WINDOWS\System32\igfxtray.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [HotKeysCmds] C:\WINDOWS\System32\hkcmd.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ccApp] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ccRegVfy] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccRegVfy.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RealTray] C:\Program Files\Real\RealPlayer\RealPlay.exe SYSTEMBOOTHIDEPLAYER O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AdaptecDirectCD] "C:\Program Files\Roxio\Easy CD Creator 5\DirectCD\DirectCD.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Lexmark X74-X75] "C:\Program Files\Lexmark X74-X75\lxbbbmgr.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Update] muamgrd.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [msupdate] msupdate.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [OEM32 Tools] sres32.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [huhatsb] C:\WINDOWS\huhatsb.exe O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Microsoft Update] muamgrd.exe O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [msupdate] msupdate.exe O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [OEM32 Tools] sres32.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [OEM32 Tools] sres32.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ctfmon.exe] C:\WINDOWS\System32\ctfmon.exe O4 - Global Startup: Digital Line Detect.lnk = ? Charles,
muamgrd.exe is a variant of the AGOBOT/GAOBOT WORM msupdate.exe is a CoolWebSearch parasite variant huhatsb.exe could be malware with a randomly generated name. Take Care, Richard |
Thanks Richard, all duly zapped. :ok:
|
|
Thanks Richard x2.
Ran fdisk instead, 'twas much more effective. ...only joking.... Cheers C. |
Charles,
That is the number 1 most effective solution. :ok: Take Care, Richard |
I know Richard but the customer usually ends up looking like this  :bored: :(   :* :{ :ugh: :uhoh: :ouch: :suspect: :ooh: :oh: all at the same time... as you well know...but I'm leaning towards that kind of solution - backup/fdisk/re-install/install/update AV + Firewall/sermon on keeping windows updated+not downloading dodgy stuff/call me again and I'll charge you twice as much/you've been warned :E
|
Charles,
You could always give the speech: If you are going to be dumb, you have got to be tough! Take Care, Richard |
