Maxtor Ext HDD

Just bought a Maxtor OneTouch 250GB Ext HDD - PC/Mac/USB 1&2/Firewire with Retrospect software which seems to permit scheduled backups in plain or encrypted (I prefer plain so I can easily see what's there) Son has one for his Mac graphic overflow.
Appears to be a good bit of kit although not quite pocket size;)

I've successfully backed up a desktop & laptop to it and leave it connected to the desktop for a scheduled daily backup.

One slight general prob which could, I guess happen to any drive: I've got a folder which appears in Explorer but which returns " . . refers to a location that is unavailable . . " when I try to delete it. Seem to recollect that this indicates a difference between it's real location (or existence) and the reference to it in the registry. It isn't a great problem but I'd rather delete it. Any ideas??

Basil,

What kind of a folder and where is it located in your Windows Explorer? (Or are you seeing it as a button on your Internet Explorer?)

Take Care,

Richard

Just a backup folder on the Maxtor HDD.

Basil,

I checked the Retrospect Website FAQ and did not see anything. You might want to check the:

Retrospect Support Forums

And the:

Maxtor Knowledge Base

Take Care,

Richard

Many thanks, Richard,
Not sure if it's a peculiarly Maxtor or Retrospect problem but I'll have a closer look.

BTW how did you guys fare with Charley?

Basil,

Charley did not do much in my area. We had a lot of tree limbs on the ground and lost power for a couple of days but that was it.

Take Care,

Richard

P.S. Please let me know what you find out on that folder.
