VCR to DVD, video card and recording format
VCR to DVD, video card and recording format
I have exhausted the search facility and still require advice, hints, or tips on transferring video from a VCR to DVD via a PC. The VCR plays both VHS and NTSC, thus I assume the output is a standard something … I also assume that I will require a specialist video capture card, but here are several variants in the market covering a wide range of prices. I have no need for a TV receiver module in the PC nor for home video download. However, I would like a reasonably large sized DVD format for projecting video during presentations. I burn CD / DVD with Nero 6, use Windows XP on a Dell Dimension 4550. DVD playback will be predominantly via PC. What would be an optimum video capture card for a low time user? What are the advantages of the various MPEG formats, or is avi still viable? |
The best I can suggest is to have a look at this site videohelp.com if you look at the sidebar menu you will find articles/reviews/guides on how to do what you are after.;)

I did this with a USB tuner http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/products/data_usb.html and a wireless TV microwave link http://www.maplin.co.uk/products/mod...25&modulecode= to reach the PC...

Have a look at the Daily Telegraph web site, in their "Boot Camp" area they have just run two very good and detailed columns telling you how to do exactly that.
