Wheres my sound??
 

I moved my room around today, and plugged everything back in. I had sound for a while, and now its gone. Sometimes I can hear it crackling really faintly but nothing listenable. Its SERIOUSLY hacking me off. Ive done all the bloody obvious things like re-instyall this and that, restart bla bla...drivers.

You telling me I need a new sound card?!!?

Maybe the sound card popped out of it's socket when you were moving, open the back and check it is properly seated along it's whole length, same thing happened to me a while back, easy for it to shift if you are pulling cables in and out especially if it wasn't seated well in the first place

Also, those widely-used mini audio jacks aren't particularly good from either a mechanical or electrical point of view, so they often go intermittent.

Try unplugging and re-plugging(?) all the audio jacks a few times - if there's any crud on the connectors it might clear it off .
