Camera Wizard

I recently allowed my brother to use my computer to download some photos from his camera. He has never used XP before and ignored the wizard which appeared ( I think at this point he may have clicked on 'Don't show me this again') .
He then continued to download his photos etc. by going through 'My Computer'
Now whenever I connect my camera the computer recognises the camera but does not start the wizard and I have to download the long way.
Does anyone know how to get the wizard to work again before I throw the computer out the window. Its driving me mad:mad:
Thanks in advance for any help
:ok: :ok:

Hi McIce
This might work

To link a program to a digital camera event
Right-click the camera, and then click Properties.
On the Events tab, in Select an event, click the event for which you want to initiate an action.
In Actions, click one of the following options:
Start this program: Select the program you want to start when the event occurs.
Prompt for which program to run: Select to be prompted to choose a program when the event occurs.
Take no action: When the selected event occurs, nothing will be started.
Save all pictures to this folder: All the pictures you select will be saved to the folder you specify when the event occurs. To search for a specific folder or drive, click Browse.
Click OK.

Cheers

Thanks for your help Timbo
I get to this bit in a slightly different way
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In Actions, click one of the following options:
Start this program: Select the program you want to start when the event occurs.
Prompt for which program to run: Select to be prompted to choose a program when the event occurs.
Take no action: When the selected event occurs, nothing will be started.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I then select
Select to be prompted to choose a program when the event occurs

and click on the apply button Etc but when I plug the camera in 'Nothing'

McIce,
I think your best bet might be to do a system restore to a point before your brother ******ed your computer up.
It's very easy to do with XP, and if it doesn't solve the problem, you can undo the restore.
Just go to START then...
START-ALL PROGRAMS-ACCESSORIES-SYSTEM TOOLS-SYSTEM RESTORE.

Pick a the nearest restore point before your brother changed the settings.

Hopefully this will revert the computer back to your desired settings

McIce,

NoDriveTypeAutoRun under:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Policies\ Explorer

should have a value of 0x00000091 and not 0x0000005F.

To change the key value, carefully do the following :
  1. open regedit
  2. navigate to NoDriveTypeAutoRun key
  3. right click on the NoDriveTypeAutorRun key and select modify.
  4. type 91 in the dialog that comes up under "value data" (make sure hexadecimal is selected),
  5. click OK
  6. close regedit
  7. reboot your machine.

Take Care,

Richard

P.S. Be very careful when editing the Windows Registry. (It is a very good idea to make a backup of the Registry before attempting this.)
