iTunes

I've just added a network server and configured iTunes to point to it. The problem is that, while the library shows all the tracks on both the local PC and server, it only loads the local ones onto my iPod. I've turned off the auto-update and tried drag and drop, but it still won't add them.

Anyone any ideas? Or a recommendation on an alternate piece of software which is network friendly?

My understanding, which could be wrong :D , is that since apple dont want to be seen to help copying tunes you cant copy music from other computers on the network to your ipod via itunes.

it's simple - you can't copy music across a network - it could be piracy - if you want to load tunes from the server onto the ipod, connect the ipod to the server or set up a file server and take them over manualy.

This should do the trick (if you're using a Mac and running OSX, that is) ;)

Clarification: (as a new '10-minute edit policy' seems to have been applied) - the machine configured as the server needs to be running iCommune on OS X but any client (Win or PC) with iTunes should be able to stream the files.

Perhaps there's a Windows equivalent? I'm sure someone better acquainted with PCs would be able to let you know.. Good Luck!
