Advent 6470

Hi

Would any member have experience in upgrading the memory on an Advent 6470 Laptop? At the moment i am having extreme problems in opening the case to install new memory modules!

Any help would be great!

Thanks
Kev.

kevindelaney,

To add RAM you should not need to open the case. There is either an access panel (with one or two screws) on the bottom of the notebook or the RAM is accessed under the keyboard (which is held in with small retractable plastic clips).

Since that computer only comes with 128Mb of RAM you want to get a 512Mb SODIMM if you are running WinXP. You will see a huge improvement, since 128MB of RAM just chokes WinXP.

I am sorry I cannot be more specific on where to access the RAM but I have not seen that brand of notebook before.

Take Care,

Richard

Hi Richard
Thanks for your reply. The panels at the bottom only give access to the fans and the hard drive so it must be under the keyboard.. Hadn't thought of looking under there!! :ugh:

Thanks again!

kevindelaney,

If you have the manual for the notebook, see if they mention adding RAM.

I was looking for a website or something where I could download the manual for that notebook, but I could not find one.

Take Care,

Richard

Thanks TCS
The memory is indeed located under the keyboard.. 3 simple tongues keep the keyboard connected to the chassis so once you lift the keyboard, the memory is available under the right hand panel!

THanks all!!!

kevindelaney,

Glad to hear you are all set. Have you picked out the RAM for your notebook yet?

Which Operating System are you using?

Take Care,

Richard
