Weight, Balance and CoG Charts in Excel
 

Hey all,

I have currently just completed an Excel spreadsheet that works out whether the aircraft is overweight and then by using the arm and moment it gives the figures to be plotted onto the C of G chart so that you can work out if you are in balance.

However, I can't get the graph to work in Excel and have the points plot themselves on a graph while also setting a different graph for each different type of aircraft. Also how can you get the plot points to change when different weights are added in??

I have copies of the spreadsheet if it helps anyone to help me and I will be very grateful, thanks in advance

Why would you need to plot it on a graph?

If you know all the weights and all the arms, you know the final CG.

If you know the CG envelope, you can say yes or no, in or out.


BTW, I've thought many times of doing this myself too. We have to put total weight + cg + fwd cg limit + aft cg limit on our manifests. All of these can be got without using an actual graph.

It's mainly so that you have a visual representation as you are inputting weights and if for some reason you are overweight or out of balance you can quickly add in new values and it works it out automatically for you. Saves a bit of time transferring the data from one sheet to another and it can also be printed out and taken with you in flight.
