Microsoft Joystick software
 

Hi all,

I've bought the new IL2 flight sim and was desperate to play it, but can't find the drivers for my Microsoft Force Feedback Pro (Version 1).

I don't want to try version 2 software that's for the new joystick, and can't for the life of me find it anywhere on the net for a download. Can someone help me please before I get so bored that I floss the cat?

Which Operating System are you running? If you are running WinXP, all MS Joysticks are native so no additional drivers needed.

On the subject of joysticks, I've got a new computer arriving in the next few days and due to lack of drivers for my old stick I need a knew one.

What is the current joystick of choice?. It will be used for flight sims and other games (ahem.... applications).:p

I've placed a zipped version of the drivers on my site - here .

The CD has 154Mb worth of stuff on it - I picked the files in the root only as the rest appear to be direct X and similar programs. Let me know if you need that part too. Otherwise it's a 12Mb download I'm afraid!

I have replaced the force feedback joystick with a cordless version from Logitech - as the Microsoft one was driving me crazy - like constantly wanting to hijack my aircraft! The new one is brilliant, piece of cake to set up and confortable to use. Only drawback is it doesn't maintain its position when you're banking for ex. - that's the only thing I miss from the other one. Highly recommended + affordable too (29GBP ) - more info here - end of plug.

Do you use the X45 joystick? I am seriously considering getting it after someone pointed it out me months ago, but nver got around to it. Any comments on it? Plus do you know if it requires two USB ports, one for throttle and another for joystick?

I have sold the X45 as a special order and the people that go for that joystick are usually playing Fighter Sims. Mostly the Falcon Series. It is an excellent joystick and built to last. They include a very detailed calibration program and button programming program that can be a little overwhelming but does not deter from the total experience.

The Throttle connects via a serial cable that connects to the joystick itself. The joystick has a single USB connection that goes to the computer.

Before you buy, I would try one out to be sure it is what you want.

Before hand I had found on Siteik Ireland and Uk site, priced at £79:99 so this is saving me a few pounds and pences :ok:

Don't know if anyone else with the X45, but the guy who showed it to me had the X35 and was well chuffed with it. He still has and is happy to revert back to it when his yoke doesn't work for him.
Plus would like something with a chunky throttle for those thousands of pounds of thrust:cool:

NAC: I tried what you suggested (Win XP) and it works. How come it didn't pick it up when i attached it to the computer? Maybe cos' it's not USB.

AMOFW: I downloaded your file for future use. :) The Logitech one looks very cool, but i'm going to break my MS one first.
