Windows shortcuts
Is there a way (shareware maybe) to have a keyboard shortcut which would type out my rather long email address automatically, thus saving my poor digits from RSI? I have counted that I type it out about least 20 times a day - mainly logging in to online systems etc.. I don't trust the remember my password thingy on IE but would rather have say ctrl+M and have the system churn out my email address or other info as if by magic.
Any ideas? Thanks amofw  |
Short answer: Yes.
I was going to refer you to Windows Recorder, but apparently I'm a bit out of touch - Windows Recorder was dropped from Win 95 and later. There are loads of shareware equivalents - see this Google search - but apparently Win XP etc have a "hidden" tool known as the Windows Scripting Host (WSH) which can do what you want without having to add any extra software to your machine - see here . Hope this helps, cbl. :) |
Thanks CBL - I did try and Google it - but I wasn't sure what keywords to use - will have a go at wsh - would prefer that over shareware.
Thanks for the speedy response. amofw |
I use a handy clipboard utility called Clipomatic (Freeware) http://www.mlin.net/Clipomatic.shtml. It is simple to use and has permanent and temporary clipbooks.

Thanks RFCC Do you use it with XP - just tried it but it crashes whenever I try and use a permanent clipset. :(

Apologies if this is a Granny/Eggs answer and not quite what you wanted.
If you have a tick against "Use inline Auto-Complete" in the Browsing Section on the Advanced tab of Internet Options under Tools, as soon as you enter the first letter of any your e-mail addresses you will be offered a choice of addresses all beginning with that letter. Always provided, of, course that you have entered the address at least once since you activated AutoComplete. It is then simply a matter of highlighting the one you want and left-clicking. |
I've never used Clipomatic with XP. Used it successfully on Win95, 98, NT & 2000.
