Unsubscribe confirmation..arrgghh

I'm trying to unsubscribe from an mailing list, but have a problem.

At the end of the emails, an address is given "blah, blah [email protected]" to which I just have to send an empty email. Nice and easy it would seem. However, I then get an email asking me to confirm my unsubscribe request by "replying to the following address". This second address is huge, full of wierd character/symbols, and always results in a Daemon error message......max characters exceed etc, etc.

Any ideas!!!!!!

I should add, I'm using TAO Client for Windows.

Never - EVER (!!!) - reply to "unsubscribe"-adresses of services you haven't subscribed to yourself in the first place. Random junk mail ist usually sent to hundreds of thousands of mail adresses and replying to them only shows the sender that your email-adress is a valid one and you will then begin to receive junk mail from various other sources, as your adress will be traded in mailing lists...

Depending on your ISP/mail host you might wand to use some spam filter or a program called Sendmail.
The first will put all unwanted spam mail into a seperate folder. The second will prevent delivery of said spam mail and therefore report your email-adress as invalid to the sender. Doesn't work for all providers, though.

See also this posting for info.

Thanks for the info RC.....
I should have explained that it's not actually spam, I'm just getting more emails from this mailing list than I expected.
On further investigation, it appears that my email program is truncating the return address (so that the number of characters before the @ is 65), this would explain the mailing error.

I'll just have to wear-out my delete button I guess
