Yet another virus or......?
I've just received an e-mail from a friend telling me about a virus which he has found on his machine called "jdbgmgr.exe". Apparently it propagates automatically to everyone in one's e-mail address book and is 'yet undetectable by Norton, McAffee and VET AV software'.
I looked on my machine and, sure enough, there is the program complete with its teddy bear logo. Does anyone know anything about this one? (just before I go and wipe it out and delete some perfectly innocent program!) |

It's a HOAX - click here for full text text: This is a hoax that, like the SULFNBK.EXE Warning hoax, tries to persuade you to delete a legitimate Windows file from your computer. The file that the hoax refers to, Jdbgmgr.exe, is a Java De****** Manager. It is a Microsoft file that is installed when you install Windows. It has a teddy bear icon as described in the hoax: http://securityresponse.symantec.com...ile.hoax.1.gif |
That's Java D e b u g g e r to save you all wondering :D

Thanks for that, folks.
I had my suspicions from the tone of the covering e-mail - it just didn't ring true from what I know of the person who sent it to me, which is why I posed the question here! He's now sent an apologetic message saying DON'T DO IT!! |
