My youtube vids from 14 years ago....accessing them?

Hi all....I have quite a few old video's of my early flying days on youtube.

For some reason I can access them to edit ect.....i have since created a new account which is fine.....but really would like to get into my old videos.

Its possible its to do with registering with google some years ago....I dont know.

Any ideas please.

I pay to not get the YT inserted ads. One benefit of that is I can download videos. I don’t know if the downloaded file is in a proprietary format or not. Or if you can then upload them to a different account.

I also believe there are free download services like https://savetube.io/en25/youtube-to-mp4

What do you mean by "...get into my old videos"? Are you trying to download them off the youTube site onto your computer?

No but to be able to answer comments and edit details on the video.

Ah, so when you said

was that a typo, and you meant to 'can't edit' ? That confused me a bit.

You could try the Google Community Help Forum. I find those sort of places pretty hit-or-miss but you might get lucky.

Maybe take advantage of a free trial of YouTube Premium in case that opens any doors.

I think Junkman's suggestion of downloading the videos and uploading them to a new account is probably the best option if you can't persuade Google to give you access to the old account.

Good Luck

No typo.....I cant edit my videos or answer a comment that I may want to......I want to keep the history intact.....they go back a long way

I don't suppose you still have access to the same email address that you originally registered with ? (I know - unlikely) - just in case they have a 'Lost my Password' option ?
Sorry probably a silly question because of the Google takeover :)
As Netstruggler posted - maybe the Google community help forum ?

Yes same email.....prob back then you used your own I think.....seem to thing it needs to be a GMAIL these days.....I think at the time of that change over things may have gone wrong

Does this help?

How to link your YouTube account to another account

I ran into something like what you're dealing with. My old YouTube channel was called "SkyHigh Views," and it's been around for ages. It was a bit of a hassle, but I managed to get back into my old videos by figuring out my old Google account that was connected to YouTube. After I got in, I realized those old videos could really use some updating. That's when I found Movavi for video editing. It made a huge difference, making my videos look way better and more interesting to watch. Movavi was super easy to use and had lots of cool features that helped make my videos stand out. If you're thinking of giving your videos a new look, you might want to check out Movavi. You can learn more and get it for free there.

DSS thanks for that idea.....had a look back on all my old Google sign in for some years ago....noting works.

No help line either for youtube.

Look like I am stumped..

When I search on 'recover old youtube account' or something similar, I get these suggestions:
  • Navigate to the YouTube homepage.
  • Click the “Sign In” button in the top right corner.
  • If you haven’t logged into your account recently, click on the “Need help signing in?” link.
  • Enter your username, email address, or phone number.
  • Receive a verification code in your email or via text.
  • Enter the code to reset your password.
  • Sign in with your new password.
Looking at the current sign in procedure, the 'need help' bit appears to be missing, but there is a 'forgot e-mail' option. You can use that to recover the e-mail that's linked to that account, but only if you originally supplied another e-mail address or phone number for recovery purposes. If your videos are still online, they should be linked to some sort of account that used to be in your name. The page with the video(s) on it should allow you to see which username you used. If you know which e-mail is linked to the account, and you have access to it, you should be able to go through the 'forgot password' procedure and set a new password for the account. There is no rule that says you have to use a Gmail account, I have a youtube account linked to a totally different e-mail account, works just fine.
