Bose wave sound
 

One of the above is our main house radio. We use it almost entirely on DAB and its fine, apart from a stupidly dense bass. The query, however is about RDS - the function is selected on, but no information is displayed. I assume that the feed for the system is incorporated in the DAB transmission, so can anyone suggest where the problem might be, please ? The unit works as a 'standalone' - no network pairing, but I have downloaded and installed the Wave app on my main desktop computer.
Any suggestions would be welcome. :confused:

Isn't RDS a purely FM thing?

I think on DAB you'll get different information depending what the station transmits.

Thank you, Dan - I'll check on that, but I think you're probably right. The confusion arises because we use a Roberts DAB/FM in the bedroom and it shows the info .... probably means that it's on FM ! :ugh:
PS - Just done a 'net check and, yes, that was the problem. Much appreciated, Dan ...your brains and my stupidity, and we have an answer ! :ok: :D

My late mum used to have her FM radio on in the kitchen and DAB radio on in the sitting room during the day as she tended to move frequently between the two, both on Radio 4 and fairly loud. She was quite deaf and didn't notice the slight time lag between the two formats - her aurally unchallenged visitors like me noticed it and I began to regret getting her the DAB radio as a Crimble present!

To venture into Naval parlance, "Belay my last pipe !" - further investigation shows that a form of RDS is operative on DAB. Two Roberts radios in the bedroom both show 'rolling' info detail on R4 and 3. However the downstairs Bose remains stubbornly blank. So far, nothing useful on the Bose site, so I shall continue the search. Any clues or pointers most welcome.
Treaders - the other 'oddity' of the DAB output is the initial 'packet' repeat, on switch on.- at least, I'm assuming that it's to do with DAB being transmitted in 'packet' form, but the whole 'techie' bit is beyond my ken. :{

I do vaguely recall an echo or something when my Pure DAB came on - haven't listened to it for several years as I prefer my choice of music to R4 or anything else these days! It's actually unplugged and heading into the loft - a cheap non-ticking battery clock now tells me the time at night and I am dragged screaming from the clutches of Morpheus by my phone alarm, Pink Floyd's "Any Colour You Like" at 6am, and the rather gentler "Sleepy Shores" by Johnny Pearson at 6.40am as a reminder - better than nagging radio journalists!)

My failing memory tells me that some of the info that is "broadcast" is actually broadcast by only one station, for the benefit of all.
My satnav in a Golf stopped giving me traffic updates on request. Mr Google and friends told me to tune to Classic FM, leave it tuned in for a while, then turn off everything, and a few minutes later turn it all on again.

Next morning, traffic updates were working again.
I am no techie, so I do not know whether RDS and traffic warnings are associated!
